Terms and Conditions
Last updated 14 October 2026
These terms apply to everyone who uses TKTFY: people buying tickets and people selling them. By buying a ticket or creating an account, you agree to them. Please also read our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your information.
1. Who we are
TKTFY is a service run by BTech Innovations Company Limited in Uganda (“we”, “us”). TKTFY is a marketplace. Each event is run by its organizer, who sets the prices, sells the tickets and is responsible for the event itself. We provide the website, the tickets and the tools to check them at the door.
2. Accounts
- You don’t need an account to buy tickets. Organizers need one to sell.
- Give accurate information and keep it up to date. Keep your password private; you’re responsible for what happens on your account.
- You must be at least 18 to open an organizer account. Buyers under 18 need permission from a parent or guardian.
3. Buying tickets
- A ticket lets the named number of people into that event. You can buy up to 10 tickets in one order. Event details, prices and entry rules come from the organizer.
- Each ticket has a QR code that works once. The first scan lets someone in; later scans are refused. Anyone who has your ticket link can see and use your tickets, so share it only with people you’re buying for.
- How you pay. For now, you pay the organizer directly, to their own MTN MoMoPay or Airtel Money merchant code, and then enter the transaction ID from your SMS. That money goes to the organizer, not to us.
- You get your tickets straight away, marked “payment being confirmed” until the organizer confirms they received the money. If the organizer reports that the payment didn’t arrive, the tickets are cancelled. You can enter a corrected transaction ID once.
- Entering a transaction ID that isn’t yours, or that is false, cancels the tickets. Each transaction ID can be used only once on TKTFY. A phone number with 3 rejected payments in 24 hours is blocked from paying.
- Reselling tickets above their price, or copying tickets, isn’t allowed. Copied codes will only work once.
4. Refunds, cancellations and postponements
Because you pay the organizer directly, refunds come from the organizer.
- Cancelled event: the organizer must refund the full ticket price within 14 days of cancelling, to the number you paid from or another one you agree.
- Postponed event, or a big change (a new date or a different venue): your ticket stays valid for the new date. If you can’t go, you can ask the organizer for a refund within 7 days of the change being announced.
- Changed your mind, or can’t attend: there’s no right to a refund, unless the organizer’s own policy on the event page says otherwise.
- If an organizer doesn’t refund you when they should, contact us (see section 9). We’ll ask the organizer to act, and we can suspend organizers who don’t. We don’t hold ticket money, so we can’t pay refunds ourselves.
5. Organizer terms
If you sell tickets on TKTFY, you also agree to the following.
Verification
- Before your first event goes on sale, we verify you. You must give true details: your legal or business name (and URSB number for a business), your address, a photo of your ID, and the mobile money account and merchant codes you’ll be paid on. If those details change, we check them again.
- The merchant codes you give must belong to you or your business.
Your events
- Your events must be real and lawful, and you must have any permits, venue bookings and permissions they need.
- Describe the event, prices and entry rules honestly, and let in everyone who has a valid ticket.
- Confirm or reject each payment promptly and truthfully. Only reject a payment if the money really didn’t arrive.
- If you cancel or postpone an event, update it on TKTFY, tell your buyers, and refund them as section 4 sets out.
Fees
- TKTFY charges a service fee of 3% of each ticket sold. Each order records the rate it was sold at.
- Because buyers pay you directly, you pay our fee afterwards. Each event’s fees are due 7 days after it ends, paid to our merchant code from your dashboard. While fees are overdue, you can’t publish new events.
- Our fee isn’t refunded when you refund a buyer.
- Paid promotions are optional. We check the payment and approve each one before it starts.
Buyers’ information
- You’ll see your buyers’ names, emails and phone numbers. Use them only to run your event: confirming payments, entry, refunds and messages about that event. Don’t sell or share them, and don’t send marketing unless the buyer agrees. You must follow Uganda’s Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019.
6. Events and content that aren’t allowed
- Events or activities that are illegal in Uganda, or that need a licence you don’t have.
- Fake or misleading events, or selling more tickets than the venue can safely hold.
- Content that promotes hate, violence or discrimination, or sexual content involving minors.
- Images, logos or music you don’t have the right to use.
We can remove events or content that break these rules.
7. Our role and its limits
- We aren’t the organizer of any event. We aren’t responsible for how an event is run, for anything that happens at it, or for what organizers say about it.
- We work to keep TKTFY running and secure, but we can’t promise it will always be available or error-free. This is a pilot, and we’re improving it as we go.
- As far as the law allows, our total liability to you is limited to the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. For buyers, who pay us no fees, this means we aren’t liable for the ticket price; that claim is against the organizer. Nothing here limits rights you have under Ugandan consumer law that can’t be excluded.
8. Suspending and closing accounts
- We can hide events, or suspend or close accounts, if these terms are broken, if we suspect fraud, or if the law requires it. Where we can, we’ll tell you why.
- Tickets already sold stay valid unless the event is cancelled. Fees you owe remain due after your account is closed.
- You can delete your organizer account yourself from your profile once you owe no fees, none of your upcoming events has tickets sold, and every buyer payment has been confirmed or rejected.
9. Changes, law and contact
- We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change affects organizers, we’ll tell you about it, and we may ask you to agree to the new version.
- These terms are governed by the laws of Uganda, and Ugandan courts can settle disputes about them.
